What do you actually use your phone for?
10 GB of data costs ~349 kr/month with Norwegian carriers — bundled with call minutes you barely touch. With merdata: 10 GB for 149 kr, data only, no contract. Keep your existing number for calls and SMS.
For most people, calls and texts go over WhatsApp and iMessage. You're paying for call minutes you never use. With data-only you pay for what you actually use — data.
Over 237,000 Norwegians have a payment remark and get rejected for regular subscriptions. With us there's no credit check — and on prepaid SIMs data is throttled to 128 kbit/s after 1 GB.
A one-off purchase, not a monthly subscription. Perfect as an extra data line, a backup, or for a short period. Buy it when you need it.
Data-only eSIM — keep your subscription/number for calls and SMS, or use a cheap prepaid SIM. Norwegian 10 GB subscriptions: ~300–400 kr/month. We're not yet VAT-registered, so pricing may be adjusted as we grow.
What is an eSIM?
A digital SIM card built into your phone. You download a profile via a QR code — no plastic card.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Enter your email, pay, done. No sign-up, no credit check, no passwords to remember.
Does it work with my phone?
Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM: iPhone XS+, Samsung S20+, Google Pixel 3+. Take the self-check at merdata.no/enheter to be sure.
Do I lose my own number?
No. The eSIM is added as an extra profile. Your existing number keeps working for calls, SMS and iMessage.
Do streaming and banking services from home work?
Usually, yes. The eSIM is a pure data line, and services from home such as online banking, email and apps work as normal. Traffic may be routed through an international hub, so a few streaming services with strict licensing rules can in theory require a home-country IP — but for everyday browsing, maps and social media you won't notice a difference.
How quickly do I get the eSIM?
The QR code appears right after payment and is emailed to you. Activation typically takes 1–3 minutes.
How can I pay?
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Vipps all work. We never run a credit check, whichever way you pay.
What if it doesn't work?
We refund in full if the eSIM can't be delivered. Reach us via chat or email.
Why is there no VAT on the prices?
Datamynt AS is not yet registered for Norwegian VAT. The price you see at checkout is the final price — nothing is added at payment. Your receipt shows the same amount.
Can I cancel my purchase?
Yes. An unactivated eSIM is refunded in full at any time before activation (within the package's installation window) — that's more than the law requires. If you activate and withdraw within 14 days of purchase, we refund minus a deduction for what's been delivered. And if something doesn't work, we'll help you get connected — if we can't fix it, you get your money back.
