Terms of Service

Last updated July 2026.

This is an informational translation. The Norwegian version (norsk versjon) is legally binding.

1. Service description

merdata.no sells digital eSIM packages with mobile data for use abroad and in Norway. The service is a data-only service (internet access) with no phone number, voice calls or SMS. The service is provided by Datamynt AS, org. no. 936 017 207, registered as an electronic communications provider with the Norwegian Communications Authority (Nkom).

2. Delivery

Your eSIM is delivered automatically after payment via a QR code sent by email and shown in the My eSIMs portal. Delivery is considered complete once the QR code has been presented to the customer. Typical delivery time is under one minute; in some cases provisioning by the supplier can take a few minutes.

3. Prices and VAT

All prices shown on merdata.no are final prices in Norwegian kroner (NOK), including VAT and other mandatory charges where applicable.

Datamynt AS charges 25% Norwegian VAT, included in the displayed price. The exact amount appears on the receipt.

4. Right of withdrawal

Prepaid eSIM data is an electronic communications service under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act. At checkout you expressly request that delivery starts immediately, and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal lapses once the service has been performed in full (§ 22 letter c).

We give you more than the law requires: an unactivated eSIM is refunded in full at any time before activation, within the installation window of 180 days from purchase. Refunds are paid out within 5 business days, with no fees. The statutory right of withdrawal runs for 14 days from purchase — if you activate the eSIM and withdraw within that period, we refund the purchase price minus a proportional deduction for data and validity already delivered (§ 26). Contact hei@merdata.no.

5. Complaints and refunds

If the service doesn't work as promised, we'll first help you get it working. If we can't fix the problem within a reasonable time, you're entitled to a price reduction or a full refund. Your statutory rights in the event of defects are never limited by the withdrawal terms above. Send a description of the problem to hei@merdata.no — we reply within two business days.

Datamynt AS is registered as an electronic communications provider with Nkom. If we can't resolve the matter together, you can contact the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet, forbrukertilsynet.no). Disputes about electronic communications services are handled by the Norwegian User Complaints Board for electronic communication (Brukerklagenemnda, BKN, brukerklagenemnda.no). Disputes are governed by Norwegian law.

6. Limitation of liability

merdata.no is not responsible for the network quality, coverage or speed of third-party mobile operators in the destination country. The customer is responsible for ensuring their phone supports eSIM and is unlocked.

7. IP address and local services

The data connection is routed through an international hub, so the IP address you get is not necessarily from the country you're in. Services that require a local IP address — for example NRK and certain Norwegian banking and streaming services — may therefore be unavailable. The eSIM is a pure data line and is best suited to everyday browsing, maps, email, social media and apps.

8. Processing of personal data

See our separate privacy policy at /personvern for details on how we process your data.
